Delias Thompson left her home in rural Oregon to find her identity. Always knowing that she had to find her own way and build a life of her own she moved across country to find out who she was. It was several years before she took a beginners metalsmithing class at a local art center but she knew at once that the metal was a partial key to discovering her own path.
Slowly she developed the skills and vision to begin building a collection of pieces that she could identify with as something real. The hard architectural lines of the Reflection Collection reminded her to seize the moment and make each second count while the organic crevices of the Cobblestone collection reminded her that without understanding the history it is difficult to build a future that will last. It was only recently that she understood to embrace herself as a single person she must realize the innateness of both and build a bridge to connect the two. The two collections she realized were a physical tribute to her journey of the last eleven years. Bridging the girl who left home to discover her own way with the girl who feels strength and determination to choose a direction based on where she wants to go.
It is in knowing that we are perfect in each moment, whole in each day, that we allow growth to change us as we move forward but embrace our perfection in each stage along the way.
